The story of how Pete and Debby happened into the lake house on Roy Lake puts light onto the area’s history.
Back in the day, as they say, many young people attended Grand View camp in the Lakes area, including Debby. So, it isn’t surprising that Debby & Pete sent their son to Grand View camp too. Then he moved on to work at the same camp as he grew older. While visiting him they came upon the lake house which was once a resort as well. Their home, which has been rebuilt, and those around it were the cabins. The main hall was a home nearby.
One evening we went to the nearby Grand View Lodge for dinner. Here are a few pictures of this beautiful old lodge.

Honest, we didn’t know our friends Pete and Debby had a lake house when we first met. Now we fit into that friend group, streaming in and out of their cabin this summer. It is no wonder. They are gracious, fun to be around and seem to genuinely enjoy sharing their quiet, laid back summer life style.
Smooth, clear Roy Lake is part of a chain of lakes in the area, all of which are connected by a water trail. The small town of Nissawa is close by, linked to their cabin by the Paul Bunyan rails to trails bike path.
We fished, set on the deck, rode in the boat, shopped did whatever came to mind. But mostly we just enjoyed the laid back surroundings.
