Orchestra Spring Concert

Martha Barnhill taught orchestra when Doug played the double bass in the late 1980’s and she is still producing amazing young musicians.  In fact, her orchestra program expanded to include Nicolas Carr and Steve Kile as her fellow instructors.  I didn’t write the exact number down, but there were over 200 4th, 5th and 6th grade students in the orchestra tonight.

I asked Aaron which selection he liked the best.  He chose Appalachian Hymn by Bruce Chase.  I liked Theme from Canon in D by Pachelbel/Caponegro.  I taped some of the songs, but haven’t checked the quality.  There was a lot of background noise where we sat.

Aaron looks all business above, but afterward….  A visit to the local Sonic was the final treat.

This is a first

About a half hour ago I looked out my office window and saw this.

Turns out there was a student driver and he made a wrong turn!  It is hard to believe he thought our driveway was a road, let alone got that big rig turned in.

Glad it was fairly dry as his back wheels were way out on the yard.

Sometimes spring needs a little help

Kim and Marc invited us to their home for Easter dinner, the second Sunday in a row! We had the traditional ham and trimmings.  Delicious as usual.  It’s wonderful that our children and their spouses are excellent cooks. We look forward to eating in both their homes.

Sunday we wanted to eat out rather than in,  only it was just a little cool—a perfect time to try out their Christmas present.

What a great invention.  Doug & Drue have one in Colorado because often the weather out there needs a little added outdoor warmth.  That is why we decided to get one for Kim and Marc.  I think they will use it in the spring and fall as well as those evenings in the summer when the humidity cools things down.   It was just what we needed Sunday to enjoy the spring outdoors.

Sunrise Service at Stull UMC

Beautiful sunrise with Clinton Lake in background.  The youth had a meaningful service.
