Iditarod Race--Karen Land's personal account

On January 26th, Dan and I attended a program at the Lawrence Public Library with Karen Land, a three-time participant in the Alaskan Iditarod Race, as the speaker. Click here for my thoughts about the evening.

I wish I had more…

Candy canes, that is

Today I finally tackled a table obviously still containing Christmas things as I found a candy cane lurking there.  I didn’t think too much about it—just tossed it on the counter.

Just now I noticed it as I walked by so decided to eat part of it.

(Why do they make it so hard to get to the candy.  No wonder kids are eating candy canes with the paper on around the holidays.)

Finally the tight cellophane came off and I popped a piece in my mouth.

Yum!  Ended up eating the whole thing.   Maybe I’m so overloaded with sweets at Christmas that these little staffs of candy are just tossed aside.

Next year I’m going to stock up on them at the after Christmas sales.  A little peppermint and a cup of hot tea might just be the perfect evening treat.

Tuesday Tally (on Wednesday)

A post made in November, 2009, alluded to the fact that the numbers of certain animals spotted near our back door  should be reduced.

As of a couple weeks ago, thanks to Skye, there is one less.

FJ 40 Land Cruiser

Toyota started making these in 1951.  Doug’s is a mid 60’s model.  He took me for a ride to Palmer Lake this weekend.  It has potential!
