Our boxer, Skye, is a great pet. She makes us laugh every day. I don’t need to post a picture of her—there have been plenty of those on this blog already.
Dan was working outside this afternoon. Skye brought a ‘possum up to the house that she found in the pasture playing dead. Dan scolded her and carried it away.
So, what did our smart dog do? She went back out, picked the possum up and brought it into the house, up the stairs and laid it in the hallway.
Needless to say, I closed the doggie door while Dan again carried it away. I sprayed disinfectant and gave Skye a bath but I have not opened the door for her yet. I’m afraid our highly intelligent dog will go right back out there and look for that equally smart ‘possum.
By the way, I did take a picture of the possum playing dead, but it was so ugly, I decided not to put up.
Correctly spelled “Opossum” here is a web site with Opossum poetry. There are also opossum pictures, clothes, history, facts and links—you name it. Turns out the Possum Rag, by Geraldine Dobyns that I have on the Box audio link on the left is a Mississippi State University fight song.
Now, considering the notoriety of this marsupial, I am thinking of putting the picture up, maybe Opossums aren’t so bad….nope, just had a look. I don’t think so.
As for Skye, she’s smart, no matter what some might say.
