Remember, this is in our barn, thus the tarp backdrop:)

Kim is going to create a fall arrangement for the wedding shower. Dan and I drove through the pasture looking for things she might need. We gathered all this
We have plenty of grass. We found a milk weed pod that hadn’t blown all its seeds so I gave it a light hit with spray glue. I’m not sure what else she might need. Just in case, I cheated and bought fake sunflowers. I thought they looked good, though.
I’ll post a picture tomorrow sometime when she is done.

Kay and Lynn moved their big rig back to Lake Shawnee after a week in front of our house. We had a good time and I think they slept well out here where it’s quiet. Next time we might move them over to the side of the house where they can look at more than the barn. They will be in the Topeka area for a while as dental work never is as fast as hoped. From here, it will be back to 90 plus degree weather in Arizona.
We looking forward to friends coming in for a bonfire shower on Saturday evening.
Actually, it’s a wedding shower around a big bonfire. The bride and groom chose the venue. Judy brought over the first gift. This is part of it. Halloween is the bride and groom’s favorite time of year. It’s going to be fun.

We were greeted this morning with an ever so slight covering of frost. The important plants were covered. I am not sure it harmed the uncovered plants anyway.
Whether it was due to the the late evening sun or morning frost it’s hard to tell, but as we looked out across the meadow late this afternoon, we notice the prairie grass has it’s striking fall bronze-copper look. The trees far off in the valley are still fairly green, but they will be changing soon.
Today I came across this site from the USDA Forest Service. It has the latest updates on tree color divided by region across the United States.
Here is the site. When I have more time, I plan to study it closely. We have an opportunity to visit Arkansas and Missouri this month. It will be beautiful, as usual, there and here.
