Master Gardener Tour

Saturday afternoon was perfect weather for the Douglas County KSU Master Gardener Tour.  The landscapes were designed with flowers, yard art and water ponds/falls to create a overall exterior design.  Impressive.

The audio was recorded on our front porch.  We hope they make our home theirs.

That was a beautiful garden. I'm not very good with bird calls. What bird was that?

Linda, it is a Bobwhite Quail. The numbers have dwindled in eastern Kansas in recent times. There are many opinions on the reason. There is a theory that their habitat has dwindled, but there is no better place for them than the KS Wildlife & Parks area near us and they still haven't made a big comeback although they seem to be recovering somewhat. There is a hunting season. I don't think that would affect their numbers too much. We would love to have a covey in our pasture.
