Well, not quite summer as I write this. It is still 1 hour and 45 minutes away—12:45 am, June 21st.
I love the long days of summer. Five o’clock this morning was beautiful. Birds singing and daylight enough to see.
The downside of the summer solstice is now the days will slowly get shorter. Some part of me finds that depressing. Not sure why as it’s not like it happens immediately.
I have a similar feeling only of optimism in December, though. Maybe I have that seasonal disorder people actually sit under sun lamps to alleviate. I do like the sun, which is good because I just read the other day that many “elders” have a vitamin D deficiency.
Not me. I’ll be smearing sun screen on my face and enjoying the summer days even though they will minute by minute get shorter.
