A beautiful first day of spring. Instead of welcome spring, I should have said welcome turkey buzzards or turkey vulture or Cathartes aura or just plain buzzards, depending on who you are talking to.
They arrived today. Maybe it's my imagination, but they seem excited to be back. They are circling over the valley. Some of them are cruising over our house. As mentioned before, I like this bird. They are shy, but finally was able to get this picture posted last year.
Dan cleaned off our asparagus patch. Still no potatoes in. It is just too wet.

Neighbor, friend and Professor Chip Taylor and his staff have returned from a trip to Mexico and the Monarch's overwinter site at Los Llanitos. He indicated in his blog he will be writing more about the trip. Meanwhile, you have to see the picture!

I am going to miss Sonoma, always dependable, hardly ever disagreeable and my best friend in the post office. However, it is time for her to have less stress and hard work. Lately, she has developed several illnesses that could be considered terminal unless she retires and takes it easy. Hopefully, she will find a new home, living out her days carrying fishing gear.
The replacement 2000 S10 is not nearly as nice looking and has a bad complexion (a few minor dents). He will be OK, but I am loyal to my old friends. He will have to earn my respect.
